Journal Entry: Day 86

Gerik, Perak, Malaysia,

Well, we still have no official announcement about an extension of our amnesty of overstay, so it becomes clearer that I will have to leave before April 21! This means I have to go back to KL (Kuala Lumpur) and proceed with all administrative paperworks and do PCR test, … but I also have to found a destination that would allow me in. And book a flight ticket if there are still available. All of this within 1 week / 10 days from now. It is a little stressful but here it is, after more than 1 year in Malaysia. Let’s hope everything goes well.
Yesterday I went to take back my recorder from the A171 road (the road that goes to the dam), it is such a beautiful road that goes through the Gerik forest reserve, beautiful nature all around, with no village at all, and very few traffic (the dam is remotely controlled), only people that goes to the nearby jetty use this road, and some herds of Buffalo, there is also 1 logging site, but it looks very small, with few activities. I took the opportunity to record with the custom kit and also see the dam and the jetty in this area. I was able to capture very quiet ambiences and interesting dawn. I quickly listened back to the recordings, there are some magical moments in there, I am very happy with the outcome.
In the evening I went to Pasar Malam ( night market ) in town. My friend invited me to see its garden, it is very interesting that people can grow so many fruits and have honey bees in their backyard.

Today, I try to go to Banding island and visit this area. and maybe go to Temenggor road, and record some sounds from there.
